A scam that needs to go away rn: Kegels

WILL KEGELS HELP YOUR PELVIC FLOOR?

I’m sure you’ve heard of this over-gloried pelvic floor exercise that women secretly whisper about. But guess what? They’re a SCAM.

*#1. Preparing for pregnancy, we need to focus on relaxing our pelvic floor, not tightening them. But if you want to have a 100 hour labor, go ahead and do some kegels.

*#2. Most women do kegels wrong. And doing an exercise wrong can create more issues. This is a problem if you already pee when you laugh. (I’m not laughing, you’re laughing 🤣)

*#3. There are so many other pelvic floor exercises you could be doing that might actually help you better address underlying issues. Kegels aren’t the only thing that exist!

✋ I’m not saying kegels are worthless. Under the observation of an experienced practitioner, they can certainly help…if you actually need it!

But if we’re trying to prepare our pelvic floor for pregnancy, most of our pelvic floors need a chill pill. Not to be wound tighter.

SO, go do child’s pose. That’s probably going to be a heck of a lot more helpful than a kegel for you if you’re trying to conceive.

❔Now let’s hear it…who here has been doing kegels because they thought they needed to?!
