You Are What You Absorb & Why This Matters for Pregnancy

You've heard the saying: "You are what you eat."

But in reality, it's more like: "You are what you absorb."

Input doesn't always equal output. We could be eating the most "nutrient-dense" diet. But if we aren't able to absorb our food properly, we're not going to get all the benefits.

This matters a lot during preconception, pregnancy and postpartum, when we're usually making a concerted effort to build/rebuild our nutrient stores.

Optimizing nutrient absorption includes:

ā†¬Providing the digestive system the raw materials to properly function

ā†¬Consuming the most bioavailable forms of foundational macronutrients

ā†¬Properly preparing foods like grains, legumes, vegetables, nuts and seeds

ā†¬Practice mindfulness around mealtime

ā†¬Making sure your supplements are in the right forms and contain necessary cofactors

In my course, Conscious Conception, I dedicate multiple lessons and modules on optimizing digestion, bio-availability of nutrients, proper food preparation, digestion & mindful eating, and prenatals & supplements. (link in bio)
