How long will it take me to heal?

healing journey motivation patience

Before we begin, for those currently in the healing process, I hear you and see you.💓

I often get asked: “How long will it take me to heal XYZ issue?”

And the truth is, it’s very difficult to even begin to put a timeframe around the healing process.

Another truth: Each person’s history is different.

Our birth. Parental care. Friendships. Relationships. Food. Sleep. Sun exposure. Stressors. Jobs. Traumas. Medications. Supplements. Environment. Support. These are just a few.

This is why on a healing journey, it’s so important to check comparison at the door. Because as you can see, what someone else is doing is really moot.

When creating a realistic timeline for your healing journey, it can be helpful to create a timeline for yourself leading up to this point. When did your symptoms/stressors really begin? Are there any points that truly stand out to you?

The point of this is to create awareness, so you can visually see how long it took you to get to this place here and now. Chances are, it didn’t happen overnight.

The amazing thing? Your body has gotten you this far. The entire time, it’s been working literally day and night to help you survive. It’s always had your back and it does now.

So let’s take a breath. Exhale. Tell your body how grateful you are for its unrelenting work. And while it’s easier said than done, give yourself grace and space. You will get there.

These words may be tough love to some, but my greatest wish is that they provide hope. And please know, you’re not alone.
