PERIODS ARE IMPORTANT. HERE’S WHY.

Our menstrual cycle is more than just for getting pregnant. I repeat: our menstrual cycle is for more than just getting pregnant.

First, it helps us produce protective hormones like Progesterone, which are pro-thyroid, anti-inflammatory, and anti-anxiety.

Many of the issues like PMS, moodiness, depression, bloating, water retention, constipation, diarrhea, spotting, hot flashes, acne, loopiness, weight loss resistance,…these are all signs of something like a deficiency in Progesterone (or an imbalance).

There is a reason Dr. Katharina Dalton noticed that her patients with PMS tended to miscarry.

And these things may be common, but they aren’t normal.

This is another reason why our menstrual cycles are so important: They can tell us if something funky is going on with our health.

Because if our cycles are off, chances are pretty good that we not only have something going on with our lady parts, but also our thyroid, our adrenals, etc.

Our body communicates with us through our cycle, every day of every month. This is why it’s being called the 5th vital sign (and this is an advantage that men definitely don’t have).

Regular, consistent, crimson red bleeds, not too heavy, not too light, are a sign of not just fertility, but vitality.

Irregular, spotty, light pink, brown, heavy, painful periods can be a sign that something is off.

And this is not to make anyone that experiences irregular or not-so-great cycles feel bad. We can live in a world where those exist and we can also acknowledge the importance of a healthy menstrual cycle.

What I’m trying to say is: If we can tune into our cycle, can you imagine how much more fertility and vitality we can unlock?
