TTC with Hypothyroid? Read this!

#preeclampsia gestational diabetes hypothyroidism preterm birth thyroid ttc

Do you have hypothyroidism + are you trying to conceive?

Hypothyroidism is way more common than we realize—about 1 in 8 women will experience thyroid dysfunction at some point in their lives (hello, that’s me πŸ™‹πŸ½‍♀️).

But here’s where it gets concerning: untreated or poorly managed hypothyroidism can significantly increase the risk of pregnancy loss and complications.

πŸ“‰ The stats:

πŸ’” Hypothyroidism can interfere with ovulation, making it harder to conceive naturally, with research indicating that women with hypothyroidism are 2-3X more likely to experience infertility.

πŸ’” Additionally, studies show that women with elevated TSH levels (such as 5.6) have a 60% higher risk of miscarriage compared to those with normal thyroid function.

🀰🏽 Poorly managed thyroid function can also increase the risk of preterm birth, preeclampsia, and gestational diabetes.

πŸ‘Ά Hypothyroidism during pregnancy can negatively impact fetal development, leading to issues like low birth weight and neurodevelopmental delays.

✨ What I think is absolutely unacceptable:
When a woman is experiencing recurrent miscarriages and has clearly poorly managed hypothyroidism, it’s critical that her care team takes action to prevent future losses and ensure a healthy pregnancy.

My client FINALLY got the support she needed by working with me and my team, and was able to bring down her TSH over 3 points in just a little over a month of implementing small but very intentional thyroid support.

🌱 Taking proactive steps to manage hypothyroidism before pregnancy can make a huge difference. With the right care and support, we can optimize your thyroid health, improve your fertility, and reduce the risk of complications.
